Biography

Stew is one of the top SQL developers in the Oracle community, to which he has contributed for over a decade through the AskTom site, the OTN forum dedicated to SQL and PL/SQL, and his blog. He was “Best New Overseas Speaker” at Tech 14, OTN “Devvy Award” finalist in 2015 and was recently named Oracle ACE. Stew was a developer and application architect for 35 years, working in mainframe, client-server and web architectures. For his last ten years at BNP Paribas, he focused on proper use of the Oracle database in OLTP applications and batch processing, improving application performance up to 300-fold. His blog features in-depth series on such topics as comparing and synchronizing tables, handling date ranges and the MATCH_RECOGNIZE clause.
